Hey, guys!

Today’s Wellness Wednesday is a post all about using activated charcoal for teeth whitening!

You have probably seen the ads for activated charcoal all over Facebook, but if you haven’t, activated charcoal is the newest trend for at-home, DIY teeth whitening! This is a wellness-wednesday post because it’s a safe and natural way of whitening your teeth, compared to bleach whitening which can seriously damage your teeth, or laser whitening which will break the bank! I actually can’t even use whitening gel or strips or anything like that on my teeth because my teeth are SO sensitive, which is sad because I’ve always wanted to whiten my teeth, and now with activated charcoal I finally can!

Two weeks ago I purchased a tiny little jar of activated charcoal tooth polish by Olivia Care from Marshall’s, and Jay and I have been using it daily ever since! As people who drink lots o’ black coffee (literally sipping it as I write this), we have been looking for something to whiten our teeth and prevent coffee staining! I’ve seen amazing before and after pictures from people who used activated charcoal, and we have both definitely noticed a difference (especially in the first few days) so I can’t wait to see how our teeth look after a few weeks!

All you have to do is dip your tooth brush in the powder and brush like normal for about two minutes, but do not ingest! The jar says you can replace your normal toothpaste with the charcoal, or you can use the charcoal and brush with your normal toothpaste after (which is what I do)!

**The ONLY bad thing I have to say about the activated charcoal is that it’s a M E S S! I never brush with it while wearing an actual outfit (I wear a baggy pj shirt) because the charcoal is so concentrated and it gets all over the place and makes a huge black mess if you’re not careful! Sometimes after we brush our teeth there are tiny black specs allll over the sink, but I’ll pay the price for whiter teeth!
